The head of the Consumer Association, Dr. Zuhair Berro, revealed, in a radio interview with Voice of Lebanon, that “mixing gypsum with labneh is in order to achieve quick profit.”
He pointed out that “all the laws that are in the interest of the consumer have not issued their applicable laws, so this problem exists,” advising citizens to buy well-known brands bearing the ISO 22000 sign.
He added, “No one can replace the absence of the state, as the labneh is mixed with a mixture of palm oil, and sold at a reduced price, and the profit is imaginary.”
He also revealed that “the cheese that is referred to as a food preparation should not be bought, because it is an euphemism for the presence of the worst types of oils in it.
